About Us - OSM Academy

About Us

We empower youths by providing hands-on training, conducting climate fieldwork, and running open mapping initiatives. Our mission is to build climate resilience through knowledge sharing, innovation, and data-driven community action.

Our Work in Rupnagar Slum

We are working in Rupnagar Slum to tackle the rising risks of heatwaves. This project is part of the Climate Resilience Fellowship (CRF), supported by Open Mapping Hub Asia Pacific and World Vision Bangladesh. Our target area is Rupnagar Slum, where vulnerable communities face growing climate risks daily.

Rupnagar Slum Project

About the Fellowship

The Climate Resilience Fellowship is an empowering initiative designed to equip youth and women in Bangladesh with the skills and knowledge needed to create impactful, locally-driven climate resilience projects in Dhaka's slum settlements. The Fellowship leverages open mapping data and technologies to enable participants to tackle the pressing environmental challenges faced by their communities.

Meet the Team

Initially, both members started with different project ideas. Later, they came together as a team to design this climate resilience project in Rupnagar Slum.

Brazil Singh

Brazil Singh

Initial Idea: Enhance healthcare & education access in vulnerable areas using open mapping tools (ODK, Openstreetmap, Mapillary). Create awareness through digital platforms and community-driven mapping.

Mynuddin

Mynuddin

Initial Idea: Develop a mobile app providing real-time climate event data (floods, heatwaves, agriculture tips). Empower youth and farmers to share data and strengthen community resilience.

Unified Project

Combining their ideas and strengths, Brazil Singh and Mynuddin now work together to tackle heat-related challenges in Dhaka City, focusing on Rupnagar Slum as part of the CRF Climate Resilience Fellowship. Their teamwork blends open mapping, digital tools, and community engagement for stronger climate resilience.
